CeaseFire Ecumenical Organization
CeaseFire is a multi-racial coalition of area churches committed to lowering violence in the Birmingham area.
While praying for the welfare of the city (Jer. 29:7), I began to seek for additional, yet non-threatening strategies to counteract the high murder rate of the city of Birmingham. Assured that every other major institution is utilizing all of their available resources to aid in this effort, I received what I believe to be one of the strategies from the spiritual community.
In my research, I found that soaring death rates and violent acts are not new in the earth. However, God's solution remains the same. Just as in Old Testament times, the first 21 days of each year are crucial in staging the success of the land. We implemented a 21 day Awareness focus of peace and non-violence to raise the community awareness. However, to fully implement the plan, it is essential that the ministers or the heads come together. It is to this end that we gather in unity.

Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
A community effort to reduce the city's murder and crime rate by applying biblical principles with practical applications of non-threatening, conscious acts of each individual. These acts will be encouraged by corporate, political, religious, and community reinforcements of self-induced actions of peace throughout the campaign and year.
